Eíre Dragons—Song of Dawn

Revised May 30, 2012 for consistency with ACKS.

Song of Dawn is an elder dragon (serpentine, viper, scale ascendant, primal sunlight), roughly 350 years of age, with STR 19, DEX 15, CON 18, INT 13, WIS 18, CHA 16. Song of Dawn has iridescent feathers covering the wings and forming a massive headdress, and eyes that glow brightly, providing daylight to a 50-ft. cone.

Song of DawnLarge (60 ft. long, 15 tons), move 120 ft., air 120 ft. (class II); HD 15+60 (130 hp), AC –1; Attack bite 1d8+6 plus “liquid light” poison (15d6 burning damage, save at +1 to negate)Special breath weapon 3/day (searing light, 15d6+15 heat to a single target, everyone looking toward the beam must save to avoid being blinded for 1d6 rounds), cast as cleric-4/illusionist-4; Defenses special; Align NG, Int normal (13).

Sunlight abilities. Cast light with a 500-ft. radius at will. Immune to effects which blind. Can dispel darkness spells as a level-10 caster (and some permanent enchantments and effects as well). Can see distant places as if casting clairvoyance as a level-10 caster, at will.

Other notes. Song of Dawn’s fang poison glows brightly, and limns the victim’s veins as it passes through—creatures immune to burning damage will find it uncomfortable (and inconvenient in the dark, equivalent to faerie fire) but harmless. Song of Dawn can sing beautifully—and possesses a number of arts-related proficiencies: Art (Illusion), Illusion Resistance, Knowledge (Music Theory), Magical Music, Mimicry, and Performance (Song) x3.

In addition, all reasonable illusionist spells can be cast as if they had verbal components only, if Song of Dawn is singing.

Song of Dawn is a music lover, and has been known to aid particularly talented heroes willing to perform.

Song of Dawn is a close ally of Fire Dancer, and they have a shared hoard consisting of gifts to one another—unable to ever truly give something up, when they wish to make a gift, they put it into the shared hoard where both may enjoy it. Although the majority of this hoard consists of rare books and songs, exquisitely crafted musical instruments and astrolabes, and similar, one item of note is the Tunic of the Beggar Saint, an artifact given to the two dragons for safe-keeping by a clever wizard (who, aware of their friendship, gifted it to both to ensure that both would protect it).
